Last night—art opening at the Pasadena Museum of California Art.

Then we saw the Magnificent Seven. Denzel, I love you, but why did you agree to do this movie? Antoine Fuqua really likes fight scenes. He directed Training Day, but also Olympus Has Fallen. In American movies, when one guy says he’s going to leave as the Ethan Hawke character does in Magnificent Seven, you know that he will be coming back shortly. You can just sit around and wait for it. A lot of fighting and running, horses falling, but not much plot. Even the one attractive woman doesn’t get involved with anyone.

The movie I really wanted to see was Sully, maybe next time. We’re still churning through Breaking Bad where violent occurrences happen every day like rain in Oregon, like sunshine in L.A.
