What would you like to cut out of your life?

Some people have cut food out of their life. You’re saying that’s not really possible. You can’t cut out food. You would die. But that isn’t true. You could replace food with concoctions. And there are lots of them to be had. There are many different kinds of liquid diets that allow you to take 60 seconds to prepare your food. In fact most Americans are interested in finding ways to prepare their food more quickly. There are more ads everywhere for food that can be prepared quickly, don’t worry about the long list of ingredients that are a variety of chemicals you wouldn’t recognize.

Okay, so you don’t want that long list of ingredients, and you don’t know how to cook or you don’t want to. You don’t have time to cook. What is the solution?

Soylent? http://www.soylent.me/
There is a product that could save you from ever having to make your own food, grow your own food or prepare food for yourself or others. All you need to do is just mix up soylent. You don’t have to ever walk into your kitchen. You can just drink your booze and take the soylent. This company makes a liquid drink so that you don’t have to deal with food any more.

What’s interesting is that some people don’t want to have any relationship with food any more. Growing food, preparing food and eating food with another person, or even eating food communally with a group of people, toasting and wishing happiness—all that has been around as long as humans have been on the planet. But in the 21st century, some people are finished with all that. They don’t want to cook for a person or have someone cook for them.

That’s too bad. The further we get away from reality, the more likely we are to be able to do terrible things to each other. Being human means that we bathe, we eat, we sleep. And we experience kindness and compassion.

The Japanese have a whole generation where they’ve given up on having sex. Not all of them, but a lot of them. What if you don’t want to have sex any more? That doesn’t seem possible. Most humans want to have sex at some point, some want a lot of sex, some not so much. But none?

According to The Guardian:
A survey earlier this year by the Japan Family Planning Association (JFPA) found that 45% of women aged 16-24 were not interested in or despised sexual contact. More than a quarter of men felt the same way…Lacking long-term shared goals, many are turning to what she terms “Pot Noodle love” – easy or instant gratification, in the form of casual sex, short-term trysts and the usual technological suspects: online porn, virtual-reality “girlfriends”, anime cartoons. Or else they’re opting out altogether and replacing love and sex with other urban pastimes.

I don’t want to cut out food or sex, love or dreams, cooking or plants. If I could cut anything out, I sometimes think I’d cut out driving or freeways or standing in line or getting stranded at the airport, but all of that is part of life too, it’s part of what makes us human beings, the fact that we have to put up with the crazy parts of life, the boring parts of life.

Don’t cut out anything. It all adds up to a life.
