Your story has yet to be written.

Penguins

Happiness is about believing that the story has yet to be written. The existing story is never enough. It isn’t big enough. Not wild enough, crazy enough, there are not enough tigers. There isn’t enough clean laundry flying loose on the line. Not enough clouds or sunshine. Not enough wet hands, or music or leaves.

You should never believe that the story is all written. It’s not written. Believe that you are a kite caught in a tree. You will get free. The wind is coming. Believe that the American flag used to mean happiness. And now it means war. It could mean happiness again.

Don’t believe the story that is written. Start your own story. It’ unwritten. Write it any way you want to. Write a big story. A wild story. A story with no ending.

My story starts with the Battle Hymn of the Republic: Mine eyes have seen the glory. God is stamping out the corn. But then, I rewrite the story.

Write yours.
