Valentine’s Day is around the corner

Valentine’s Day is around the corner

Okay, this is for you people who don’t have a clue what to do for Valentine’s Day.

Work on the following:
1. Don’t talk down to your woman all day.
2. Buy her flowers somewhere.
3. Bring her to food. Food she likes. Not food you like. Food she likes.
4. Don’t tell her about any cool stuff you’ve done.
5. Champagne

Ford’s Filling Station in Culver City

I’m sitting here working and drinking wine. We’re going to the Kirk Douglas tonight with our friends Jacqueline and Carmen. My two favorite restaurants in Culver City are Ford’s Filling Station and Rush Street which are right across from each other. This is the second night in a row that I’ve sat in a bar drinking and eating olives. Olives are a good catch all food or warm up food. It’s like eating regular food and because it’s so time consuming you keep thinking you’re getting somewhere. I like olives though. When was it okay to walk down the street in your pajamas? That guy isn’t homeless. He has a wallet and he’s clean, and he’s talking on a cell phone and in his pajamas. I’d like to say that big cities bring out the crazies but if you think that, you need to drive around the nether parts of New Mexico, Arizona or yes—Texas. I’m going out on a limb here to say that I think the South has its full share of crazies.

The craziest town I’ve ever been to was Crescent City, CA. It’s way up by the Oregon border and it is a god-forsaken town where everybody knows everybody. The very nice lady who drove me around –I had to fly there in a prop plane from SFO, and I was there on a speaking gig—she told me that at least half of the people in the area self-identified themselves as having mental disorders. From the look of the place, those were the honest people, the sane people, they should have been applauded. There was hope for them.

On the other hand, the place was absolutely beautiful, a craggy coastline swept close to sky and water. You could see yourself moving there and thinking, yes, I can think here, I can live here. Then, you’d find that you had too many thoughts. That’s one of the problems with thinking.

On the other hand, I think that many Americans are a little crazy. Maybe this is true in France as well. Or Germany. Or England. But America suppresses sexuality and that makes us a hotbed of cyber-perverts. What a country.
