Moonlight

July 23rd

Full moon last night and some people like to dance in the moonlight. The moon has inspired much poetry and madness.

We had dinner tonight at Mike and Anne’s, a very nice place in South Pasadena where you can eat outside. I like their menu and sitting on the patio and the quiet warm air. Louise and Roy, Ron and Bianca—good times. Ron Koertge is always so much fun to hang out with. The food is good, the wine excellent.

Dinner with friends should be a flow of conversation, a rethinking of the world and mostly, you should feel you’re relaxing. We covered movies, the South, cities we like and don’t like, moonlight, Pasadena, the races and Australia. We avoided Trayvon, probably for the best as that conversation heads downward and viruses, world wars, and sexism.

There should be music, light and dancing. In California, there is always soft light filtering through the palm trees and then you wake up and realize you need to work many jobs just to stay here.
